The Hellblazers are finally ready to confront the villainous Tavor Resh and rescue Fallon Bloodwood from his clutches.
Abraxas, spying on the evil mage via Invisibility, discovered that Resh had the young noblewoman chained to the wall, and was attempting to pry something from her mind with powerful magic. Complicating matters further, a Death Knight stood at the center of the room, demanding a report from the sorceress Kalanna, another guild wizard.
The Death Knight stood within a magic circle, but it was determined that the circle did not imprison him the slightest, but was a trap for any humanoid who dared to enter it.
While the rest of the Hellblazers converged on the location, Abraxas crept into the room, hoping to hear more of the Evil-Doers conversation. But the Death Knight saw through the wizard’s Invisibility and attempted to hold him with telekinesis, but was Counterspelled in turn as the wizard teleported to safety behind a pillar.
Rushing into the room in order to aid their comrade, our heroes proved a devastating force in the end. A mighty Earth Elemental, summoned by Kelwyn, leveled heavy blows upon the Death Knight, as the druid himself made short work of Kalanna. Tavor Resh fled to the Death Knight’s side, only for them both to be caught in a Web spell, that was then set on fire by Kelwyn. Seeing an opening, Akkamas drew the Sword of Kas and slew the evil Guild Wizard with a Finger of Death spell cast from the blade.
As the flames subsided, Tim and Jone charged at the Death Knight, severely wounding him with sword and spell, even as Tim was temporarily paralyzed by the magic circle. Racing in, Braxton dealt a heavy blow of his own against the Dread Lord.
As the battle raged, Abraxas checked on the now unconscious Fallon Bloodwood, healing her wounds and making sure Tavor’s spell hadn’t done any permanent damage. After that, the wizard broke the magic circle around the Death Knight, freeing his friends of its debilitating effects. It was then that Tim struck down the creature, granting respite to the wounded party.
Jone in particular was badly hurt. And as the dust settled, Akkamas approached the weary occult detective. “It’s going to be okay,” he said as he attempted to skewer his friend upon the Sword of Kas! Kas must be fed. But Jone Misty Misstepped out of reach and ran down the hall.
The Hellblazers were horrified, but Kelwyn, realizing the Warlock’s motivation, transformed into a sacrificial lamb, that was promptly slain by Akkamas, feeding Kas and reverting Kelwyn back into his true form, unharmed.
Eventually Jone returned to the group and the Hellblazers, along with freed Bloodwood, teleported back to Trollskull Manor, their job done.
With Resh defeated handily, the Hellblazers made their report to emissaries of the Blackstaff, had the Bloodwood girl returned to her family (to which a suitable reward was paid in full, then settle in for a long rest at Trollskull Manor… but, these being the Hellblazers, their repite will soon give way to sinister undergoings beyond the walls of Waterdeep.
