#RPGaDAY2018: Day 14 — Describe a failure that became amazing


Today’s prompt is a good one — we are asked to describe a failure that became something amazing.

I am a big fan of “critical failures” and try to make them thematic and help to drive the narrative. These opportunities present themselves often.

Just last night, a character, attempting to stealthily sneak out of a merchant tent, accidentally brought the back part of it down, knocking over a pole and pulling a stake out of the ground.

Another player quickly cast phantasmal force, disguising the collapse. This could have gone south in a big way, but instead, became character defining and set up a comical sequence after the fact involving another tent and a sleeping maiden waiting for Ahmed the Sheep Herder…
